Meetup, Facebook, and MySpace

If managers aren't important towards the formation or control of groups using online tools, what do you consider the main role websites such as Meetup.com, Facebook, and MySpace have provided newly emerging groups?
Through all of these relatively new online communication tools, it has been made very simple for all sorts of people to communicate and keep in touch without needing the approval of a higher authority. However, all of these websites act as a management tool for the vast numbers of people who use them and therefore, is it accurate to say that "managers aren't important"? Without these websites, which act as managers, then people wouldn't have the carefree and easy way of communicating with one another.

Cell phones

With so many cell phones on the market today able to take photos (and video), do you ever worry about being "captured" in a not-so-flattering moment? How would you deal with a friend who decided to share such a picture or video with others?
Living in the college atmosphere, it is always a concern that someone could take a not-so-flattering picture. Even if you are out at a party, on your best behavior, someone could snap one shot of you being overexcited with a group of friends, and show the picture of you in a different context. Everyone has bad moments but in the past it hasn't been a huge deal because they come and go. But now, many of these moments have the opportunity of being captured on film, and that is a problem. There are many ways to deal with something like this. In most instances, I would hope, if a friend posts something embarresing of you, all it would take for them to remove it would be simply asking. However this doesn't always work. My own sister had an instance where a guy she knew posted something on youtube.com, that originally wasn't very bad but after he spent hours with photoshop and moviemaker, he was able to turn it into something it wasn't. After her polite requests to remove it had been denied, she actually had to ask a lawyer friend to type a letter to the "friend" asking him to remove it before any other actions had to be taken. Luckily, for this guy, he just needed a little wake up call and he removed the video.

Censorship by Google and Yahoo

Both Google and Yahoo have been criticized for censoring their search results in China. What are your feelings about this? Why should Google, or why should Google not, produce different search results for different countries.
This is an interesting topic on which I have somewhat mixed feelings about. From just reading the question before I read the article I thought it was a no-brainer: that Google just definitely not censor their searches from one country to another. However, after reading, I find myself somewhat torn. Social norms vary vastly from one culture to another. Something that may be completely accepted in the United States could be looked down upon in China, or other countries. While it is important to have similiar results to similar searches, certain results maybe irrelevant in different cultures. So I say that Google should be allowed to censor certain articles based on the different countries in which they are searched.
